Research
My research sits at the intersection of policing, migration, and state legitimacy, with a particular focus on the inter-Asia context and diaspora communities. I have published across policing studies and public health, with work appearing in leading journals including Policing and Society and Policing: A Journal of Policy and Practice.
Doctoral Research
My doctoral project, New Home, New View(s)? A Qualitative Study of Hongkonger Migrants' Trust in the Police in the United Kingdom, examines how Hongkonger migrants who experienced political upheaval reconstruct and renegotiate their trust in the police after relocating to the UK. Drawing on 40 in-depth interviews and participant observation with BN(O) visa holders, the project explores how prior experiences of political rupture shape, and continue to inform, migrants' encounters with policing in a new home.
Broader Research
I have an ongoing research programme on policing in the inter-Asia context, examining police legitimacy, oversight mechanisms, and community policing. I also contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations in public health. I have a manuscript currently under review examining private policing in Hong Kong.
